Independent Medical Examinations sit at the intersection of healthcare, insurance, and law — and the operational complexity that entails. Yet the workflow connecting IME companies, examiners, and referral sources was almost entirely undigitised, creating serious risk at every handoff.
IME companies were tracking referrals, examiner assignments, and report statuses across spreadsheets and email threads — a system prone to errors, delays, and lost information.
Medical examiners operated independently with no centralized system to receive cases, manage their schedule, or submit reports digitally. Everything was done via email and PDF.
Referral sources (insurance companies and lawyers) submitted cases and then waited, with no real-time visibility into case status, report progress, or expected delivery dates.
Without a system of record, proving the chain of custody for a medical-legal report was difficult. Audit requirements were met manually, creating significant compliance risk.
