ADHD Task & Mood Tracker

A calmer way to stay on top of your day — built for the ADHD brain.

We designed and built a privacy-first daily organisation app for adults with ADHD — combining mood check-ins, task capture (text, photo, voice), focused work timers, AI-powered support cards, and historical pattern tracking into a minimal, non-overwhelming interface.

The challenge

Every Productivity App Was Built for Neurotypical Brains — And People with ADHD Knew It.

Adults with ADHD weren't failing at productivity because they lacked discipline. They were failing because the tools assumed a consistency of focus, motivation, and emotional state that ADHD fundamentally disrupts. The apps added cognitive load instead of reducing it.

Productivity Apps Were Built for Neurotypical Brains

Existing task managers were designed around linear thinking and consistent motivation — both of which are inconsistent for people with ADHD. They added cognitive load instead of reducing it.

Too Many Features, Too Much Noise

Popular apps like Notion, Todoist, and Asana had more features than most ADHD users could process. The onboarding alone caused overwhelm — and overwhelm leads to abandonment.

Mood and Task Were Treated Separately

ADHD significantly affects emotional regulation. Yet every productivity app treated tasks in isolation from emotional state — ignoring the direct relationship between how someone feels and what they can accomplish.

No Safe Space for Difficult Days

Adults with ADHD are disproportionately affected by depression and anxiety. Existing apps offered no acknowledgement of this — no safety messaging, no crisis resources, no space for difficulty.

Our solution

We Built a Daily Tool That Meets Users Where They Are — Not Where an App Expects Them to Be.

Every feature was designed with the ADHD experience in mind: minimal friction, multimodal input, emotional awareness, and absolute privacy.

01
Daily Mood Check-In

A quick, low-friction daily mood log with emotional language explanations — helping users understand and name what they're feeling before tackling tasks. Sets the emotional context for the day.

02
Task Capture (Text, Photo, Voice)

Fast, multimodal task capture designed for ADHD capture patterns: type a quick note, photograph a reminder, or record a voice memo — whatever fits the moment, without forcing a structured format.

03
Built-In Focus Timer

A Pomodoro-style focus block timer built into the task flow — breaking work into manageable chunks and providing the structured time boundaries that help ADHD brains stay on task.

04
AI Support Cards

Personalised AI-generated support cards based on mood patterns and task history — offering practical next steps, encouragement, and coping strategies tailored to how the user is actually doing.

05
Historical Pattern Tracking

Mood and task completion tracked over time — helping users and their support networks identify patterns, triggers, and progress in a way that's empowering rather than evaluative.

Tech stack

Built on a Battle-Tested Stack.

React Native

Cross-platform iOS and Android app built for performance and native feel on both platforms

Node.js

Lightweight API for encrypted user data sync, AI card generation, and pattern analytics

LLM Integration

Personalised AI support cards generated based on mood and task pattern data

SQLite (on-device)

Local-first data storage ensuring privacy and offline functionality without server dependency

Privacy-First Architecture

No ads, no third-party tracking, no data selling — all data stays with the user

WCAG / Accessibility

High-contrast, simplified UI designed to minimise cognitive load for neurodiverse users

The results

Privacy-First. ADHD-Aware. Live on Both Platforms.

Privacy Without Compromise

No ads, no tracking, no third-party data sharing — the app earns user trust by making privacy a feature, not a footnote. Rated as a standout in the ADHD app category for its ethical data approach.

ADHD-Aware UX That Gets Used

The simplified, ADHD-informed interface achieves meaningful daily retention — users come back because the app doesn't punish them for missed days or create new sources of anxiety.

Live on iOS and Android

The app launched successfully on both platforms, with ongoing AI model improvements and a growing community of adults with ADHD who describe it as the first productivity app that actually works for them.

"Build Me App were patient with iterative feedback, and meetings were efficient and focused. The app they built genuinely respects the user — no ads, no noise, just a tool that works for people who needed something different."
